Rakhi for the New Born
Rakhi is a festival to celebrate one of the most purest and deepest and noblest of all human emotions, that is the chaste bond of love between a brother and a sister. This special occasion is celebrated by tying a holy thread around the wrist of the brother. The Rakhi is the thread of love and is aptly called the bond of protection. It is celebrated by all Indian brothers and sisters, irrespective of age and distance.

Raksha Bandhan is such a pure festival that a sister does not hesitate to tie the holy thread around the wrist of her newly born brother. No matter, the newly born hardly understands anything but the sister ties the thread with same feeling and enthu. She fills immensely satisfied with the thought that her new born brother who will grow up soon will always be there to protect her and she in turn will always be there to pray for her brother's well being. Such is purity and sanctity of Raksha Bandhan.

Rakhi for new born is generally a cotton thread which can be plated in desired way and tied on to the wrist of the baby. The color of the thread varies. Since, a newborn's skin is soft, it is better to use a rakhi made of cotton thread.
